The colour of a place I loved, the light of a morning, the sea I carry inside me. This is where the body meets the soul. Just myself, and that is enough.

Arcadia series. Memories of real places, painted my way. The place stays recognisable, memory reshapes it. A hidden cove on the Baunei coast of Sardinia, where impossible turquoise water meets pale limestone. Stone, sea and light reduced to the essential.

Arcadia series. Memories of real places, painted my way. The place stays recognisable, memory reshapes it. Inside the Benagil sea cave, on the Algarve coast, where the roof opens to the sky in the shape of a heart. Rock, light and sea framing a window to the blue.

A figure floats with open arms in turquoise water, her shadow dissolving beneath her, a band of golden sand dividing sea from sky. To me it is the image of meditation - weightless, adrift in the seas of the world. Part of the Arcadia series, where happy places and moments become landscapes of memory: simplified, luminous, and slightly unreal.
