Freedom

My life is intense, and always has been. Four children. Work that has never let go: lawyer, CEO, consultant, a private office. The responsibility does not stop, and the pressure to decide is constant.

In that world, everything I produce follows rules. A legal brief, a report, fixed forms, exact objectives, no room for error.

Painting is where I put precision down. It is where I come back to myself, where I set down what I feel without fear of judgment, and where I simplify: two hundred places I have passed through, the people, the landscapes, all pared back to what remains once the noise is gone.

I have always lived in layers, balancing distinct professions, experimenting constantly, wanting to learn everything I can. My work could never be any different. I do not follow a single line. I build distinct series, each holding a different layer of what I have lived.

For now, painting lives in the space between my two worlds. Day by day, it is claiming the entire horizon.

Sílvia Biscaia is a contemporary painter based in the Algarve, Portugal. She began painting in April 2026.
