The water at Meeru was so clear that the body threw its shadow onto the sand below. Two figures in the same frame, one of them made only of light.
Floating like that is the closest thing to silence I know. No effort, no direction, no destination. Just the blue opening underneath and the horizon far behind, holding the world at a distance.
I painted it from memory, not from a photograph. What stayed was the temperature of the water and the pink of the fins.
