Inner Sea
Absorption
Inner Sea is not the series about the sea. It is the series where the paint is allowed to behave like a liquid.
The other work is flat, decided, cut. Here the pigment is thinned and let into the surface instead of laid on top of it, and what happens next is only partly mine. Colour spreads where the fibre lets it. Edges form where two wet fields meet and stop each other.
These are the paintings I make when I want to find out something rather than say something.
